I never thought I’d cry for you.
Perhaps I thought you’d stay
Near my heart and together do
What all broken hearts sing—play:
A song of grief and pain.
I never thought I’d cry for you.
How sad for broken hearts
To depart—to stray; even parts
Within our short entwined history
Can’t keep us syncing our story.
I never thought I’d cry for you.
Little you care for my tears. Love?
Is that why your tears won’t fall,
As I sink from clouds high above
Into wallowing despair? If you call:
I never thought I’d cry for you…
How painful is a lover’s song
Played on a heart string’s gong.
This one thing is surely true:
I’ll never play for you again.
Four, not two 😐
Anyway, this one was a change of pace for sure, but the transparency is admirable and heartwrenching. Another great poem!

Four?? Uh oh… 😑 Thanks for letting me know! I debated sharing this poem, but I’m glad doubt didn’t win. Appreciate your feedback and tech alerts! 🙂
