Shape Shifters: Breaking Free of Fear

Life is made of different boxes.

Inside those boxes we keep our prized possessions, such as our relationships, our opinions, our goals, and other valuables.

Breaking open these boxes and exposing them to the eyes of others is personally a very fearful thing.

What if I am ridiculed?

What if people don’t accept me for who I am?

In other words, I discovered a box with all sorts of fears when I started assessing my top principle for 2019: living holy unto the Lord.

I found myself fearing the prospect of destroying relationships, opening myself to others’ criticisms, walking into uncomfortable predicaments, and confronting past mistakes.

I found myself fearing to confront the past and approach an unknown future.

And then I was reminded again of my life verse:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7

God has equipped me to walk holy by giving me His ever-present Spirit, His all powerful Word, and a capable mind.

Am I willing to shatter this box of fear and put a more valuable item in its place on my life’s shelf?

I dare to say yes because:

<1. My true identity and worth are found when breaking free from personal boundaries.

Whether or not we reach our full potential or are successful in fulfilling God’s plan for us depends on our personal commitment to Him.

<2. We as Christians are made for success.

Personally that’s a big one. God didn’t make Christians to be flopping failures.

Fear is not a necessity and failure is not continually imminent.

Thoughts: What fears are keeping you from reaching your full potential for God?

What’s keeping you from giving your all?

Will you purpose to break open your fears and let God work despite your circumstances?

Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for sending Your Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins, and taking the price of all my wrongs. Thank you for restoring Jesus back to life, and giving Him as our prayerful advocate. Help me to bring all my fears to You and not live under them. Thank you for supplying me with Your comforting Spirit. Make me courageous, and yield all my fears to You! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
